Playing Around

Hello Crafters

How has your week been? We did manage a few really lovely sunny spring days here, and it makes you feel like a new person, but we also had a few miserable ones, so on these days crafters head straight for the craft goodies, don’t we, never a rainy day in the crafting stakes 🙂

As I have been away from crafting for a while, I thought I would just have a little tinker about and see what would happen. So first I came across a die purchase that I managed to buy at a really good rate, but when I got it, I must say I was a little disappointed. It was much smaller than I thought, and it was a Tattered Lace die – Midi Side Stepper Die, which I tend to avoid as I think they are way over priced. I also wanted to try and use up those bits of scrap we hang onto, as we always know they are good for something, so I put the two together and came up with this.

It’s really small, and on the back I cut and stamped a tone on tone piece of pink card so you can write your greeting on and it has double sided tape so you can adhere it when you are ready. It’s about the size of an A2 (UK Size). Sweet but small.

Next I ventured a little further (getting my mojo going), and decided to use another of my purchases Creative Expressions – Australian Collection Background that I had been staring at for ages hoping for that massive lightening bolt to hit you with an idea, and I think finally, it made contact!

Now this I like! I used Creative Expressions – Configurations Elegant Lace Edger Die to frame the inside and MFT – Dienamics Stitched Tags for the sentiment. Inside the card I used MFT – Birthday Greetings Sentiment Stamp. I also used an embossing folder for the inside background with leaves but I haven’t a clue which one it is!

Last but not least I made a couple of Easter Cards

I used Lawn Fawn – Chirpy Chirp Chirp Stamp and Dies & Puffy Clouds & Grassy Border & Stitched Squares, Mama Elephant – Lunar Animals.

Well I think that’s it for now. Hope you all have a wonderful Easter.

Fairy Exploding Box

Hello Crafters

How has you’re weekend been so far? Well this weekend has felt like I’ve been on a cyber ride running along at 200 miles an hour, I’m positive it was Friday afternoon 5 mintues ago, so where it’s gone I do not know…..if you see a Friday evening whizz past, chased by Saturday and followed by a rapid Sunday, can you trip them up please and send them back!

It has been a lovely journey though, as Friday saw the arrival of my friend’s birthday, and I couldn’t wait to give her the very special gift I had prepared for her, not a card but a box, and you all know I love making my boxes. This one saw the start a while ago, when I made some wonderful columns out of ordinary white card, and done my best to make them look like ruins, which I am proud to say I think they do but that is for you to decide in a moment when I give you the Exploding Fairy Box.

Now this box took 7 dedicated hours of painting, colouring, stamping, distressing and building, and I enjoyed every single minute, being lost in the world of Fairy Folk! No ordinary Fairies, but tiny little fairies that require only a box to live in.

I made a base box, and the instructions for this can be found on my other blog post. Remember that each box I make is different depending on what height is needed to accommodate all of the pieces.

The majority of the images were Lawn Fawns Fairy Friends stamp and dies, Puffy Clouds die, Lawn Fawn Forest Border, Lawn Fawn Stitched Mountain Border Die, Mama Elephant Grassy Trio, Creative Expressions Trailing Ivy, Spellbinders Curved Square & Decorative Curved Square. I think that’s it! The columns were entirely made by me with no die just my imagination! (There is a brain in there somewhere lol!).

Saturday appeared and this was my once a year card glass with a lovely group of ladies from Great Wakering, and we spent a few hours together making cards, which really flew by, but it was a lovely day, and we even had some lovely new faces too! I am considering having an evening card sessions once a month at home to see if I could actually make this a regular thing, and help others learn new things, so I was inspired by these lovely ladies.

Sunday was Mr Kim’s birthday, and we went for a birthday meal at Toby, with a few family members, so that was great too. I was very good and didn’t have too many things I shouldn’t, but I think Mr Kim had a bit too much, but that is what birthdays are all about!

So all in all, a really lovely weekend with lots of lovely people! I am feeling truly blessed to know so many wonderful people 🙂

Here’s wishing you a happy week ahead.

Little Reindeer Delivery

Hello Crafters

How has your week been? Probably as manic and busy as always, (as mine was that is why I didn’t manage to post last week – soz!), but this week my other half had his cancer op, which I am pleased to say went swimmingly well and now all the radiotherapy is over, inside and out, and hopefully well on the way to recovery, phew! Came home Thursday and is already down the allotment today lol 🙂 Probably making sure no one has run off with his beans!

So although I have had a couple of days off to help sort things out, I have had a little chance to play, and something I am itching to show you but can’t just yet! In the meantime, I can show you these cute little reindeer cards that I have made for a couple of family members, and I am sure it will put a smile on their faces when they receive them.

Here’s the first one:

As you can see they are just so cute, and this I set in a night time setting, helping Santa get all the presents together! The little bell I picked up from The Works and for a pack of 60 different colours for 99p – bargain! The stamp and die sets were from Lawn Fawn Toboggan Together, as was the Stitched Hills & Puffy Clouds. The sentiment was from Justrite Festive Poinsettia & Justrite Christmas Inner Thoughts for the inside sentiments.

The second card….

…shows these cute little penguins playing in the snow and is a daytime sceen.  Again the wonderful Lawn Fawn Toboggan Together stamp and die set and the front sentiment is from the same set. The inner sentiment is a stamp I got free with a magazine last year. The card used here was mainly from my stash except the white card was from Papermill Direct. The embossing folder was from Stampin’ Up and has been discontinued but there are plenty of falling snow embossing folders, take your pick!

So there you have it for now, I have been producing quite a few Christmas cards, but next week I hopefully will have something else to show you.

Have a wonderful Sunday.
